Summer's End

Now is when the fun starts! Our new ministry students are all moved in, the new school year has started and we're beginning our weekly meetings again! August has been an exciting month as final preparations were made for ministry internships and we began in earnest to kick off the 13th year of the Oregon Youth Alive Ministry Academy!

Here's a breakdown of all of the things that happened in August:

• Students finished their Summer internships at Neighborhood Church in Albany. We are so blessed to have Neighborhood and Pastor Kelly Dufour partner with us year after year in invest in students.

• We got the last of the 2nd-year Internships set and ready to begin in September

• Our two newest students moved down to Albany and into the Youth Alive Takena Home. Welcome Alexis and Sarah!

• To kick off the year we held our Start of Year Retreat! This year we went to Florence, OR and spent three days doing team building activities, boating, worshiping together and had a special message from Youth Pastor (and former OYAMA student), Jeff Gowing.

• We also held a couple of crucial training days for all of our students. Oregon Youth Alive received new sound and media equipment from Speed-The-Light (a youth missions giving program) so we brought in an expert to teach and train our entire team and students on the new equipment. We also held a special training day about job searching, interviewing, professional resume building, etc. 

• Also, congratulations to former student, KayLee Means (Lynn) for getting married this August! KayLee and her now husband Joseph are Next Gen Pastors at Praise Community church in Eugene, OR! It's amazing to see a former student being used by God in such a great way!

• Lastly, I had a handful of opportunities to share with other Pastors and churches about OYAMA and what God is doing through Youth Alive.

We are looking for 10 more sponsors to join us in funding the ministry. If you or someone you know feels led, please contact me and let's discuss options and the future of Oregon Youth Alive.
