A Strong Start

With the Superbowl behind us, I guess it's finally time to admit that, as always, time moves forward and so do we. 2019 ended with a bang for us at the Oregon Youth Alive Ministry Academy and so far 2020 has been chock-full of exciting moments, great learning, fun times building relationship and A TON of great ministry resulting in encounters with Christ.

This is what it's all about! Over the past month, the Lord has consistently been reminding me that everything we do; From every weekly teaching time, to each event our students serve at, to every class our students sit in, to every hands-on activity we do, every meeting had and every conversation, it all results in God being glorified and people growing closer to the Father!

Highlights from the past couple of months have been...
  • The annual OYAMA Christmas Party
  • Coming alongside students as they develop detailed plans for their personal, unique "Ministry Mission & Vision"
  • Our Winter Retreat - Building relationships with and sitting at the feet learning from multiple amazing leaders
  • Group study of "Emotionally Healthy Spirituality" by Peter Scazzero
  • Introducing teachings/apologetics on World Religions and our responsibility as ministers in response
  • Opportunities to share about Oregon Youth Alive with local churches
  • 1st-Year students finishing their Job Shadow at Hope Church in Albany by serving at Catalyst Winter Camp
  • Preparations for our Ministry Fair in March
    • We spend the whole year in prayer for and working towards inviting dozens of Lead Pastors from around the state to interview our students for ministry positions when they graduate and leave us.

We are beyond excited as we spend the rest of February (the last "normal" month of the school year) preparing students to interview for positions and finish the AG credentialing process!

Please continue to pray with us! Pray for...
  1. Our Students
    • 2nd-Year students as they take credentialing tests and prep for the Fair.
    • Students to continue to serve with excellence in every area of work, school and ministry.
    • 1st-Year students to be safe as they travel throughout the state for Church Visits.
    • Students' finances as they need favor with jobs to provide for the ministry and to pay off tuition.
  2. Daimian & Brittany
    • Brittany, in the thick of basketball season as a coach at McNary High School in Keizer, would have opportunity to sow seeds and to be Christ in a dark place.
    • More chances to speak and share about OYAMA.
    • For the Lord of the harvest to bring in the necessary funding for us to continue to serve in the capacity He's called us to. We are at about 53% funding and believing God to provide what we need.
  3. Tom Bachman
    • Favor as he continues itinerating at Oregon churches.
    • Impact as He and his son, Jon, speak at Men's Camps coming up. That the Lord would bring healing and set captives free.
Thank God for the opportunity to serve Him through Oregon Youth Alive! Thank God for all of the countless people who invest in the next generation of ministers! Thank God for His constant work in our lives and His great love for us! Lastly, thank God for young men and women who have chosen to die to themselves and instead pursue the life He has called them to!
